NEA Bill Check Online: How to View and Pay Your Electricity Bill, With Rebate and Tariff

NEA bill check online: enter your NEA location, SC number and consumer ID; 2% rebate for paying within 7 days; home energy charge Rs 3 to Rs 11 a unit; Rs 500 to reconnect a cut line

As of 13 October 2026 (27 Asoj 2083). The bill check screen, payment partners and tariff are from Nepal Electricity Authority’s own website and its consumer tariff document, read on that date. We opened the bill check page but did not look up an account.

An NEA bill check online takes three things: your NEA office, your SC number and your consumer ID. Enter them on the Authority’s bill page, choose a date range, and the bill for that period appears. The same page lets you pay.

Paying early is worth it. NEA’s tariff gives a 2% rebate on the bill if you pay within 7 days of the meter reading.

This guide covers where to find the three numbers, the official places to pay, NEA’s app, and the home tariff with NEA’s own examples so you can check that a bill adds up.

How to check your NEA bill online

  1. Open nea.org.np and choose Check Bill. It opens the page titled “Check NEA Bill (Pay Online / View Online)”.
  2. Select your NEA Location. This is the distribution centre that serves you, such as Baneshwor, Bharatpur or Butwal. The list has about 180 offices.
  3. Enter your SC No.
  4. Enter your Consumer ID.
  5. Choose the from and to dates.
  6. Submit. The bills for that period are shown, with the option to pay.

Where to find the SC number and consumer ID

Both are printed on any earlier NEA bill or payment receipt, along with the name of the office. If you have never seen a bill for the meter, ask the house owner or take the meter number to your NEA office.

Keep the three details in your phone. You will need them every month.

Where to pay an NEA bill

NEA’s payment page lists these online partners.

TypeListed on NEA’s payment page
WalletseSewa, Khalti, IME Pay, CellPay
BanksPrabhu Bank, Mahalaxmi Bank, Nepal Investment Mega Bank, Himalayan Bank
Bank transfer systemconnectIPS
For organisationsCorporatePay

In each of them the steps are typically the same: choose electricity or NEA, select your counter, enter the SC number and consumer ID, check the name and the amount that appears, and pay. You can still pay at the NEA counter.

Whichever you use, read the customer name before you confirm. A payment made to the wrong consumer ID is slow to recover. Our guide to digital payment and banking complaints explains what to do if a payment goes wrong, and our comparison of payment gateways covers the services themselves.

The NEA app

NEA’s website links to its official app on Google Play and on the App Store, where it is listed as NEA Official. Install it from those links, not from an advert or a forwarded file.

A separate app, NEA Charge, is for electric vehicle charging stations. It is not for household bills.

More everyday apps are in our list of essential mobile apps in Nepal.

The rebate for paying early

The notes in NEA’s consumer tariff set the rebate.

WhoRule
Ordinary consumers2% off the bill amount if paid within 7 days of the meter reading
Government hospitals and health posts20% off if paid within 21 days
Industrial zones named by the governmentAn existing 10% discount on the monthly bill continues

On a bill of Rs 1,000 the 2% rebate is Rs 20. It is small, but it comes every month.

The tariff document we read does not set out the extra charge for paying late, so we have not printed one. Your bill and your NEA office show what applies after the rebate period.

If a line is cut for non-payment, the service charges in the same document are Rs 250 for cutting the line and Rs 500 for reconnecting it, for both single-phase and three-phase supply.

NEA home tariff: single phase

This is the domestic table for a single-phase, 230-volt connection. Each cell shows the monthly minimum charge and the energy charge per unit.

Units in the month5 ampere15 ampere30 ampere60 ampere
0 to 20Rs 30, energy freeRs 50, Rs 4.00Rs 75, Rs 5.00Rs 125, Rs 6.00
21 to 30Rs 50, Rs 6.50Rs 75, Rs 6.50Rs 100, Rs 6.50Rs 125, Rs 6.50
31 to 50Rs 50, Rs 8.00Rs 75, Rs 8.00Rs 100, Rs 8.00Rs 125, Rs 8.00
51 to 100Rs 75, Rs 9.50Rs 100, Rs 9.50Rs 125, Rs 9.50Rs 150, Rs 9.50
101 to 250Rs 100, Rs 9.50Rs 125, Rs 9.50Rs 150, Rs 9.50Rs 200, Rs 9.50
Above 250Rs 150, Rs 11.00Rs 175, Rs 11.00Rs 200, Rs 11.00Rs 250, Rs 11.00

One note applies to 5-ampere customers. If use in the month goes above 20 units, the first 20 units are charged at Rs 3 a unit.

A unit is one kilowatt-hour. The ampere rating is on your meter and your bill.

How NEA works out a 5-ampere bill

The bill is built in steps: the minimum charge for the band your total falls in, plus each slice of units at its own rate. These four examples are NEA’s own, from the tariff document.

Units usedNEA’s calculationBill
5Rs 30 minimum, energy freeRs 30.00
25Rs 50 + 20 × Rs 3 + 5 × Rs 6.50Rs 142.50
35Rs 50 + 20 × Rs 3 + 10 × Rs 6.50 + 5 × Rs 8Rs 215.00
55Rs 75 + 20 × Rs 3 + 10 × Rs 6.50 + 20 × Rs 8 + 5 × Rs 9.50Rs 407.50

To check your own bill, find your units in the first column of the tariff table, take that band’s minimum charge, then add the slices in order.

Other charges worth knowing

From the service charge list in the same document:

ServiceCharge
Line cutRs 250
Line reconnectedRs 500
Meter moved to another place, single phaseRs 700
Meter test, single phaseRs 500
Name transfer, domestic, when a house is soldRs 1,000

Forms for a new connection and for transferring a meter are on NEA’s website under consumer services.
