Driving License Fee Payment Online: eSewa, Khalti & ConnectIPS Step-by-Step

Driving license fee payment online in Nepal via eSewa Khalti ConnectIPS with payment success screen

Last updated: July 2026 (Shrawan 2083). Fee amounts follow official notices and can change — always confirm the amount shown inside eDLVRS/at the counter before paying.

Paying the driving license fee (राजस्व) used to mean a bank voucher queue before the real queue. Now, for most eDLVRS applications, you can pay the driving license fee online — through eSewa, Khalti, ConnectIPS or your bank — and walk into the office with payment already settled. This guide covers what each fee is for, wallet-by-wallet payment steps, and what to do with the receipt (don’t skip that part).

This is the payment execution guide. The system-launch background is in our new online DL system post, and a province fee example is broken down in the Gandaki fee structure guide.

Trial stagePractical exam fee (per category)A few hundred rupees
Retrial (if needed)Per re-attempt~Rs 500

*Ranges are indicative — the exact payable amount for your category and province is displayed inside eDLVRS at each payment step and on official fee notices. That displayed amount is the truth; this table is orientation.

How to Pay: Step by Step

Via eSewa

  1. Complete the form step until eDLVRS shows the payment screen with your application/reference number and amount.
  2. Choose eSewa as the payment method — you’ll be redirected to the eSewa login.
  3. Log in, confirm the pre-filled amount and reference, and pay with your MPIN/OTP.
  4. Wait for the redirect back to eDLVRS — don’t close the tab mid-redirect.
  5. Screenshot the success screen and the eSewa transaction ID.

Via Khalti

  1. Select Khalti on the payment screen.
  2. Log in with your Khalti number, verify OTP/PIN, confirm the amount.
  3. Return to the portal, confirm status shows paid, and save the transaction ID.

Via ConnectIPS / Bank

  1. Select ConnectIPS (needs a ConnectIPS account linked to your bank) — or use the bank-voucher option where the portal/office offers it.
  2. Approve the payment in your bank flow; keep the reference number.

Wallet KYC नभएको? Wallet accounts now require verified KYC (and increasingly your National ID) — see our NRB wallet NID rule guide to get your wallet ready before payment day.

Why the Receipt Matters at the Counter

  • Payment records occasionally sync late between the payment gateway and the office system. Your transaction ID + screenshot resolves it in minutes; without them you may be asked to pay again and claim a refund later — a headache you don’t want.
  • Keep: application number, transaction ID, amount, date/time. One photo album named “License” saves the day.

Payment Failed or Deducted Twice?

  • Deducted but portal shows unpaid: wait 15–30 minutes and re-check before paying again — many “failures” are just slow callbacks.
  • Still unpaid after an hour: contact the wallet’s support with your transaction ID; failed license payments are normally auto-reversed to your wallet within hours to a few days.
  • Double payment: one will be reconciled/refunded — keep both transaction IDs and raise it with the wallet first, the office second.

FAQ

Can I pay the driving license fee from someone else’s wallet?

The payment reference ties to your application number, so technically a family member’s wallet works — but keep their transaction proof with your documents. Cleanest: pay from your own verified wallet.

Is online payment mandatory?

Where the online option is live, it’s strongly preferred — but offices still handle counter/voucher payment for stages that need it. Follow what your payment screen offers.

How much is the smart license card fee?

The card printing/distribution fee has commonly been around Rs 1,500, payable when your license is issued — confirm the current amount on the official notice for your province.

I paid but chose the wrong category earlier. Is my money lost?

Fees follow the application they were paid against. Ask the office counter about adjustment/refund provisions before assuming it’s gone — bring your payment proof.
