The question everyone asks before applying: how much does a driving licence cost in Nepal? Since Shrawan 2083 there is no single answer, because there is no longer a single national fee. Each province now sets its own. Here is all seven, every category, in one place.

How to read this: the issuance fees are now almost identical everywhere — Rs 3,000 / 4,000 / 4,000 / 5,000 / 6,000. The real differences are the application fee (Rs 500, Rs 750 or Rs 1,000) and Madhesh, which charges more for category B and for heavy vehicles.

Sudurpaschim: The Correction Most Articles Get Wrong
You will find articles claiming Sudurpaschim kept the old cheap rates — Rs 1,500 for a bike, Rs 2,000 for a car. That is out of date. Sudurpaschim raised fees too: its application fee went up 50% to Rs 750, its category-addition fee is a flat Rs 750, and its issuance fees moved in line with the other provinces.
In practice a bike licence in Sudurpaschim now costs about Rs 3,750 and a car licence about Rs 4,750 — mid-table, not half price.

Gandaki’s doubling was publicly tied to the shift to 10-year licence validity.
