Tihar 2083 Date: Laxmi Puja, Bhai Tika, Sait and Public Holidays

Tihar 2083 dates: Laxmi Puja on Sunday 8 November 2026, Bhai Tika on Wednesday 11 November, public holiday 8 to 12 November, Bhai Tika sait not announced yet

As of 13 October 2026 (27 Asoj 2083). Holiday dates are from Nepal Rastra Bank’s bank holiday list for 2083. The day-by-day dates are from the 2083 calendar of the Nepal Panchanga Nirnayak Bikas Samiti as reported in February 2026. The Bhai Tika sait had not been announced when this page was written.

The main Tihar 2083 dates are Laxmi Puja on Sunday, 8 November 2026 (22 Kartik) and Bhai Tika on Wednesday, 11 November 2026 (25 Kartik). The festival begins on Friday, 6 November and Kag Tihar is on Saturday, 7 November.

The public holiday runs from Laxmi Puja to the day after Bhai Tika: 8 to 12 November. With the Saturday before it and Chhath the following Sunday, counters are open on only one day in nine.

One thing is still open. The sait (साइत, the auspicious time) for Bhai Tika is set by the Nepal Panchanga Nirnayak Bikas Samiti, and it had not published one for Tihar when we checked.

Two details stand out this year. Kukur Tihar and Laxmi Puja fall on the same day, Sunday. And Gai Puja is on Monday, the day after Laxmi Puja, not on the same day as in many years.

These dates were reported by Ratopati and Himal Press on 14 February 2026 from the committee’s 2083 calendar. They match the holiday list, which names 22 Kartik as Laxmi Puja and 26 Kartik as the day after Bhai Tika.

Bhai Tika sait 2083: what is known

Not the time, yet.

The committee published its Dashain sait notice on 20 Asoj 2083. On 13 October 2026 its website carried no notice for Tihar. For Dashain it gave one time for those who wish to follow it and said tika could be received all day.

We will add the Bhai Tika sait here as soon as the committee announces it. Until then, any exact time you see is not from the committee.

Our page on the Dashain tika sait 2083 shows how the announcement was made last month.

Public and bank holidays for Tihar 2083

Nepal Rastra Bank’s holiday list for 2083 has one line for Tihar: from Laxmi Puja to the day after Bhai Tika.

8 NovemberSundayTihar holiday, Laxmi Puja
9 NovemberMondayTihar holiday
10 NovemberTuesdayTihar holiday
11 NovemberWednesdayTihar holiday, Bhai Tika

So bank counters and government offices are closed for six days in a row, from Saturday 7 to Thursday 12 November. They open on Friday the 13th and close again for the weekend and Chhath. Normal work resumes on Monday, 16 November.

The same list gives Falgunanda Jayanti on 11 November as a holiday for employees of the Kirat faith.

What to finish before Friday, 6 November

  • Cash. ATMs keep working, but machines in busy areas can run short over a six-day closure.
  • Counter work. Cheque deposits, loan papers, account changes and anything that needs a signature.
  • Government offices. Passport enrolment, licence work and tax office visits wait until the 13th or the 16th.
  • Deliveries. Courier and cargo services can slow down during the holiday. Send early.

Digital payments during Tihar

Mobile banking, wallets and QR payments work through the holiday. Support is thinner, so a failed transfer takes longer to sort out.

Tihar has its own money habits, such as dakshina for brothers and sisters and gifts for Deusi-Bhailo groups. Nepal Rastra Bank’s ceilings apply as usual.

ChannelDaily limit
Mobile banking app, including QRRs 3,00,000
Bank account to walletRs 2,00,000
Wallet to another walletRs 50,000

Your bank may set lower limits. The full table is in our guide to mobile banking transaction limits.

Three habits prevent most festival losses:

  1. Check the name on the screen before you confirm a payment to a QR code or a number.
  2. Ignore “Tihar gift” and “Laxmi Puja bonus” links. No bank or wallet gives money through a link in a message. Our OTP, PIN and password safety guide explains the tricks.
  3. Turn on payment alerts if you run a shop. The QR voice notification confirms each payment aloud.

For data packs over the holiday, see the NTC Dashain and Tihar offer.

Chhath 2083

Chhath follows four days after Bhai Tika. The holiday list gives Sunday, 15 November 2026 (29 Kartik 2083) as the Chhath holiday.
