As of 4 November 2026 (19 Kartik 2083). Every rate below is read from the Social Security Fund’s own PDF, “स्वास्थ्य उपचार दर रेट सुची” (health treatment rate list), linked on ssf.gov.np/pages/hospital-rate-list on this date. The PDF is a 45-page scan created in April 2022 (Baisakh 2079), and it is still the version SSF links. Because it is a scan, we list only rates we could read clearly. Confirm any rate with the hospital’s SSF counter before treatment.
The SSF treatment rate list is the price list the Social Security Fund (सामाजिक सुरक्षा कोष) uses for treatment at its affiliated hospitals. It sets a fixed rate for about 1,339 services, from a Rs 200 hospital OPD visit to surgery packages above Rs 1 lakh. If you are an SSF contributor, these rates decide how much of your bill counts as an eligible cost.
This guide explains how the list works, then gives the most-searched rates: OPD, common lab tests, X-ray, ultrasound, CT, MRI, ICU, dialysis, delivery and common operations.
How the SSF rate list works
| Point | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Who publishes it | Social Security Fund, on ssf.gov.np |
| Where it applies | SSF-affiliated hospitals (123 across Nepal) |
| Number of services | About 1,339 coded items |
| Format | Code, service name, rate in rupees |
| Package rates | Many surgeries are a fixed package price |
| “Extra” items | Some rates exclude devices such as balloons, pacemakers or valves; the list marks these “Extra” |
| Your share | Under the 80/20 rule in our guide, SSF pays 80% of the eligible cost and you pay 20% |
Each line has a code. Codes beginning with L are lab tests, RAD are imaging, OPD are outpatient visits, MO and MP are ICU and intensive care, CA are cancer care, CS are cardiac procedures, and codes beginning with S are surgery packages grouped by size (minor, intermediate, major, special).

What these rates mean for your bill
The rate list caps what counts as the eligible cost. If a hospital charges more than the SSF rate, the difference is not covered by the Fund. A worked example (our calculation): for a caesarean at the Rs 18,000 package rate, SSF would pay 80%, Rs 14,400, and you would pay 20%, Rs 3,600, within your yearly limit.
Yearly limits are in our SSF medical benefits guide: SSF pays 80% of OPD bills, up to Rs 20,000 a year (reached at a Rs 25,000 bill), and the most it pays for OPD and admission together is Rs 1,00,000 per fiscal year, with OPD already used deducted (see how the limits add up). Critical illness has a separate cap of up to Rs 10,00,000 over your service period. Updated 7 November 2026: corrected to the SSF Operation Procedure (5th amendment). Pregnancy rules are in our SSF maternity benefits guide.
Things to check before treatment
- Ask the SSF counter whether your treatment is covered and which code applies.
- Ask about “Extra” items. Devices like pacemakers, valves, balloons and implants are often outside the package.
- Check your profile on ssf.gov.np: KYC, contributions and family details must be correct.
- Keep every bill and report. They are needed if you claim reimbursement later.
- Call 1116 (NTC and Ncell) if the hospital and your understanding of the rate differ.

What is the SSF rate for a caesarean delivery?

No. Under the 80/20 rule described in our guide, you pay 20% of the eligible cost at an affiliated hospital, and SSF settles 80% directly with the hospital.
Conclusion
The SSF treatment rate list fixes the price of about 1,339 services at SSF-affiliated hospitals, from Rs 200 for a hospital OPD visit to Rs 1,44,000 for heart bypass surgery.
