Fonepay Talk to Pay, AutoPay, Circle and FoneBiz: 4 New Services and All 25 Fonepay Honors 2083 Winners

Fonepay Honors 2083 winners on stage at the event where Fonepay Talk to Pay was announced

As of 10 October 2026 (Asoj 2083). Based on Fonepay’s announcement as reported by Techpana. Fonepay has not yet published launch dates, limits or fees for the new services.

Fonepay Talk to Pay lets a customer start and complete a payment by voice, in a conversation, instead of tapping through screens. It was one of four services Fonepay Payment Service Limited unveiled at an event at Hotel The Soaltee in Kathmandu, alongside AutoPay by Fonepay, Fonepay Circle and a rebuilt business app called FoneBiz.

The same evening hosted the first edition of Fonepay Honors 2083, where 25 honours across seven categories went to banks, a wallet, merchants and technology partners.

This guide explains each new service in plain language, lists every winner, and is clear about what has not been announced yet.

Key takeaways

  • Four new services: Talk to Pay (voice), AutoPay (recurring payments), Circle (shared expenses) and FoneBiz (business app).
  • 25 honours in seven categories at the first Fonepay Honors.

  • Bhat-Bhateni was honoured twice, and Citizens Bank twice.
  • More than 400 people attended, including Nepal Rastra Bank officials and bank CEOs.

Fonepay said the aim of all four is to make digital payments easier, more accessible and more inclusive.

Fonepay Talk to Pay: payment by voice

Talk to Pay is the headline feature. According to the announcement, a transaction can be started and completed through conversation-based voice instructions.

Why it matters in Nepal: a great many people who own a smartphone still find payment apps hard to use. Small text, English menus and several confirmation screens are real barriers for older users and for people with low vision or limited literacy. A payment you can speak has an obvious use there.

What we do not know yet, because Fonepay has not said:

  • Which apps will carry it (Fonepay is a network, and most people use it through their bank’s app or a wallet)
  • Whether it understands Nepali, English or both
  • How the payer is authenticated before money moves
  • Any per-transaction or daily limit

Until those details are published, treat Talk to Pay as announced, not as something you can switch on today.

AutoPay by Fonepay: recurring payments without reminders

AutoPay handles payments that repeat. Fonepay’s examples were utility bills, membership or subscription fees and regular fund transfers.

In practice that covers things like a monthly internet bill, a school fee or a fixed transfer to a family member. The benefit is simple: no missed due date and no late fee because you forgot.

Before turning on any automatic payment, in any app, check three things: how to cancel it, whether you are told before each debit, and what happens if the balance is short.

Fonepay Circle: shared money for families and groups

Fonepay Circle is for collective expense management and splitting amounts inside a family, a business or a community.

Think of flatmates sharing rent, a family pooling money for a festival, or a small team tracking shared costs. Nepal has a long habit of group saving and shared spending, from dhukuti groups to community funds, so a tool built for it fits how people already handle money.

FoneBiz: the Fonepay Business app, rebuilt

The Fonepay Business app has been restructured and renamed FoneBiz. Fonepay describes it as an integrated business platform where a merchant can:

  • Track daily income and expenses
  • Pay staff salaries and suppliers
  • View reports
  • Apply for loans
  • Run a loyalty programme

For a shop that today only uses Fonepay to receive QR payments, that is a much wider scope. The loan application piece is the one to watch, since transaction history is exactly the kind of record lenders want from small businesses.

A quick way to read these: an issuer is the bank or wallet whose customer pays, and an acquirer is the one whose merchant receives. Winning both, as Muktinath, Manjushree and eSewa did in QR, means strength on both sides of the counter.

What was said on stage

Former finance minister Rameshwor Khanal said digital payments are playing an important role in Nepal’s financial and economic sector. He called for continued innovation, collaboration and responsible growth, and described what Fonepay and its partners have built as a financial bridge connecting every Nepali to the future economy, not only a payment network.

Fonepay CEO Diwas Kumar closed the event by crediting regulators, financial institutions, merchants, technology partners and millions of users for the ecosystem’s growth, and said the best chapters of the digital finance journey are still to come.

The event drew more than 400 participants, including senior Nepal Rastra Bank officials, bank and financial institution CEOs, fintech founders, business people, international payment partners and journalists.

What this means for you

If you pay by QR every day: nothing changes yet. Watch your bank or wallet app for AutoPay and Talk to Pay, and read the terms before enabling either.

If you run a shop or business: FoneBiz is the announcement that concerns you. If you already use Fonepay Business, expect the app to change. Income tracking and reports are useful on their own; loan applications will depend on which lenders take part.

If interoperability has frustrated you: these features do not address the scan-one-app’s-QR-with-another problem we covered in Khalti scanning eSewa QR. For the wider policy direction, see NRB’s five-year fintech strategy.

A standing safety rule applies to anything voice-driven or automatic: Fonepay, your bank and your wallet will never ask for your PIN or OTP over a call or message. If a “voice payment” request reaches you through a phone call, it is not this feature.

Fonepay Talk to Pay is the feature that will get the attention, and for good reason: paying by voice could bring in people that app screens have kept out. AutoPay, Circle and FoneBiz are less dramatic but may change daily habits sooner, especially for small businesses.

The honours list shows where the volume sits today: a handful of banks, one wallet and two large retailers. The useful details, dates, limits, fees and security checks, are still to come. We will update this page when Fonepay publishes them.
