Updated 12 August 2026. Pathao Commerce launched in Nepal on 10 August 2026 — two days ago. Everything below was checked against Pathao’s own Nepal merchant manual and merchant terms on 12 August 2026. A product this new changes fast; confirm current terms in the dashboard before you commit money.
If you sell on a Facebook page or through WhatsApp, you already know the daily mess: an order arrives as a chat message, you write it in a copy, you call a courier, you wait days to find out whether the customer actually paid.
Pathao Commerce Nepal is Pathao’s attempt to collapse that whole chain into one screen. It launched on 10 August 2026 at Rs 4,999 a month, and the honest answer to “should I use it?” depends almost entirely on how many orders you ship. This guide covers what it really is, what the launch coverage got wrong, and the arithmetic of whether a small Nepali seller can afford it.
What Pathao Commerce actually is — and what it isn’t
Two things it is not, because both misconceptions are already circulating:
- It is not a marketplace. You are not listing products on a Pathao shopping app the way you would on Daraz. Customers do not browse “Pathao” and find you.
- It is not the courier. The delivery is done by Pathao Parcel, which already exists. Commerce is the software layer that sits on top.
What it is: a merchant dashboard. Pathao’s own description is “Simplify Your Online Business.” In practice that means your Facebook and WhatsApp messages land in one inbox, you can turn a conversation into an order without leaving the chat, and the order flows into inventory, delivery and payment records automatically.
The pitch is aimed squarely at Nepal’s social sellers — the thousands of people running a business out of a Facebook page. Pathao says more than 12,000 businesses already use Pathao Parcel for delivery, which is the customer base it is upselling.
The product was announced by Yashu Thakali, Managing Director of Pathao Nepal, who took over the role in May 2026. (Some outlets spell it Yeshu — the Nepali is यशु थकाली.)
What Pathao Commerce costs
| Price | |
|---|---|
| Monthly | Rs 4,999 |
| Yearly | Rs 49,999 |
| First 1,000 businesses | Free for the current fiscal year |
| New signups | 30-day free trial |
Nepal’s fiscal year 2083/84 runs to roughly mid-July 2027, so the free window for those first 1,000 businesses is meaningful — close to a year.
Paying yearly saves you Rs 9,989 against twelve monthly payments, or about two months free.
One caveat you should know. These figures come from the launch press coverage, where three outlets reported them identically. We could not find the price published on any page Pathao itself controls — commerce.pathao.com/pricing returns a 404, and Pathao Nepal’s own blog posts about Commerce quote no price at all. Treat Rs 4,999 as reliable but confirm it in the dashboard before paying.
No commission was found. No outlet, and no Pathao page we could reach, mentions any percentage cut or per-order platform fee on top of the subscription. That is genuinely different from a marketplace model — but see the delivery costs below, which are separate and real.
What the launch coverage got wrong
This is the part you will not find elsewhere, and it is the most useful thing in this article. We read Pathao’s own 45-page Nepal merchant manual, and it contradicts the launch write-ups in five places.
| What the coverage says | What Pathao’s Nepal manual says |
|---|---|
| Connects your Daraz store | The Daraz connector syncs Daraz Bangladesh. Nepal Daraz is “on the roadmap” |
| Shopify and WooCommerce integration | “Coming Soon… Do not promise these features to merchants as currently available” |
| Instagram and TikTok coming soon | Instagram is in development. TikTok is not mentioned anywhere in the manual |
| Free website | Your store lives on a .p-ent.xyz subdomain. A custom .com or .np domain is “coming next” |
| — | Checkout in Nepal is cash on delivery only. eSewa, Khalti and cards are “coming next” |
That last row deserves emphasis. If a chunk of your customers prefer paying by eSewa or Khalti, Pathao Commerce cannot take that payment for you today. Everything runs through COD.
None of this makes the product bad. It makes it early. But if you are budgeting Rs 49,999 on the strength of a headline that said “connects Daraz and Shopify”, you would be buying something that does not yet exist in Nepal.
The reason for the gap is straightforward: Pathao Commerce is an existing Bangladesh product being brought to Nepal. The Bangladeshi version genuinely does have the AI assistant, instant checkout and developer API that some coverage described. The Nepali version is a younger sibling.
The delivery costs — and what nobody publishes
Your subscription is not your total cost. Every parcel carries a delivery charge, and if a delivery fails you pay twice.
From Pathao’s Nepal merchant terms, verified:
- Three delivery attempts, then the parcel is marked Failed Delivery
- On a failed delivery the merchant pays both the delivery fee and the return fee — with no sale to show for it
- Returns take 2–3 days inside the Valley, 5–10 days outside
- Parcel limit 40 × 40 × 60 cm, and same-day delivery inside the Valley if the order is placed before 10:30 AM
- Insurance is capped at NPR 10,000, 15% TDS is deducted from approved damage claims, and fragile items are excluded
- Pathao gives 7 days’ notice before changing prices, and you have a 60-day window to dispute a charge
Now the frustrating part. Pathao does not publish a rate card for Nepal. The merchant terms name a COD handling fee, a reverse-pickup charge, dimension surcharges and return charges — but state no amounts anywhere. You see your rates only once you are inside the dashboard.
The only Nepal delivery figure we could source is Rs 79 per parcel inside Kathmandu Valley, and it comes with two health warnings: it dates from June 2024, and it applied to merchants handing over a batch of parcels in one pickup. Do not budget on it.
A warning about numbers you will see online. Search results for Pathao COD charges surface “1% COD fee” and “return charge = 50% of delivery cost“. Those are Bangladesh figures, from Pathao’s Bangladeshi help centre, priced in Taka. No COD percentage and no return charge has ever been published for Nepal. If a blog quotes those at you as Nepali rates, it has copied the wrong country.
Nepal’s courier market barely publishes prices at all
Before judging Pathao harshly for this, it is worth knowing that almost nobody in Nepali logistics publishes seller rates. We checked the main players:
| Courier | Published seller rates? |
|---|---|
| Nepal Can Move | Yes — Rs 70 branch delivery / Rs 120 home delivery inside Valley; from Rs 120 outside; 1 unit = 2 kg |
| Pathao Parcel | No — dashboard only |
| Upaya | No |
| NCN Delivery | No |
| Namaste Cargo | No rates; states COD settles on a “3 days or weekly” basis |
| Dash Logistics | No |
| Aramex Nepal | Site blocks automated access; nothing verifiable |
| NepXpress | Defunct — see below |
Nepal Can Move is the outlier, and if you want a rate you can plan around before signing anything, it is currently the only Nepali courier that gives you one publicly — we break down every rate we could verify in our guide to courier charges in Nepal. Even NCM does not publish its COD percentage, its extra-kilogram rate or its return charge.
One finding worth flagging for anyone comparing older blog lists: NepXpress appears to be gone. Its .com.np domain no longer resolves, and nepxpress.com now serves an unrelated Indonesian gambling site. If a “best couriers in Nepal” article still recommends it, that article has not been checked in years.
Can a small business actually afford it?

Here is the arithmetic. Take a Rs 1,500 cash-on-delivery order inside Kathmandu Valley, using the only published delivery figure available (Rs 79) and the press subscription price.
The subscription is a fixed cost, so what matters is how many orders you spread it across:
| Orders per month | Subscription cost per order |
|---|---|
| 30 | Rs 166.63 |
| 50 | Rs 99.98 |
| 100 | Rs 49.99 |
| 300 | Rs 16.66 |
This is our own worked example using published figures, not a quote from Pathao. The COD handling fee is unpublished, so your real cost will be higher.
The break-even is easier to see than most software decisions. If Pathao Commerce saves you roughly Rs 50 per order in time, phone calls and mistakes, you need about 100 orders a month to justify Rs 4,999. Below that, you are paying more per order for the software than you are for the delivery itself.
So, honestly:
- Under ~50 orders a month: the subscription is hard to justify at full price. Use the 30-day trial, or the free-first-1,000 window, and keep managing orders manually until volume grows.
- 100+ orders a month: the maths works, and the time saved is real.
- Any volume: remember that a failed delivery costs you the delivery fee plus the return fee with zero revenue. At scale, your return rate matters more to your margin than the subscription does.
The genuine good and bad
What works in its favour
- The single inbox for Facebook and WhatsApp orders solves a real, daily, annoying problem
- No commission percentage on your sales, unlike a marketplace
- Delivery is already integrated — 12,000+ merchants are on Pathao Parcel already, so the logistics side is proven
- The free window is generous: a full fiscal year for the first 1,000 businesses is a genuinely low-risk way to test it
- Nationwide coverage through Pathao Parcel, with same-day inside the Valley
What should give you pause
- COD-only checkout in Nepal today — no eSewa, no Khalti, no cards
- Your store sits on a
.p-ent.xyzsubdomain, which is not a brand you can build on yet - Daraz Nepal, Shopify, WooCommerce, TikTok are not available, whatever the headlines said
- No published rate card means you cannot model your costs before signing up
- The product is two days old in Nepal. Early-stage software has bugs, and you would be finding them
What existing merchants actually say
We went looking for Nepali merchant complaints and mostly did not find them — which is a finding in itself.
On Google Maps, Pathao Parcel’s Kathmandu office rates 3.7 from 97 reviews. For context, Nepal Can Move’s branches sit at 3.4–4.6 and Upaya’s at 3.4–4.1. Pathao is mid-pack, not an outlier. The Nepali seller reviews we could read praise fast COD settlement — one writes that “their fund settlement is incredibly fast (next day), which is rare to find” — and another rates the service “7.5 out of 10”, noting occasional delays.
Two honest caveats. About 30% of those reviews are one-star and Google would not serve us their text, so there is an unhappy minority we cannot characterise. And Nepali sellers largely organise in private Facebook groups, which are not searchable — absence of public complaint is weak evidence.
One warning if you go looking yourself. The “Pathao Merchant” app on Google Play rates 2.6 stars, and its complaints about COD going to the wrong number and pickups never collected are real — but that listing is Bangladesh. Pathao Nepal nonetheless tells Nepali merchants to use that same app and select “Nepal” during registration, so you will see those reviews. They are not about the Nepali service.
The fairest signal that friction exists comes from Pathao itself: in March 2026 it launched Delivery Assurance, compensating merchants when Pathao’s own negligence causes a missed delivery. Companies do not build compensation schemes for problems they do not have.
As for the Commerce launch itself — two days in, public reaction is essentially nil. No price backlash, but no visible enthusiasm either.
How to sign up
The process is short, and there is one requirement that catches people out.
- Have an active Pathao Parcel merchant account — Commerce uses the same login
- Go to commerce.pathao.com and sign in with those credentials
- Accept the terms
- Create a warehouse — this is your pickup address, and approval takes up to 24 hours
- Add your bank account details for COD payouts
- Connect your WhatsApp Business account — and this is the catch: a personal WhatsApp number will be rejected. You need WhatsApp Business, which is a free but separate app
- Add products. Note the minimum product price is Rs 30
Payouts go to your bank or wallet. Pathao’s merchant terms say COD is remitted within 48 hours each working day, while the Commerce manual describes settlement following your existing Parcel schedule. Those two do not quite agree, so ask your account manager to confirm which applies to you before you plan cash flow around it.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Pathao Commerce cost in Nepal?
Rs 4,999 per month or Rs 49,999 per year, according to the launch coverage. The first 1,000 businesses get it free for the current fiscal year, and new signups get a 30-day trial. Pathao has not published the price on its own website, so confirm it in the dashboard.
Does Pathao Commerce take a commission on my sales?
No commission or per-order platform fee has been reported or published. The cost is the subscription plus your Pathao Parcel delivery charges, which are billed separately.
Can customers pay by eSewa or Khalti on my Pathao Commerce store?
Not yet. In Nepal the checkout is cash on delivery only. Pathao’s manual lists digital payment options as “coming next”.
Does it connect to my Daraz Nepal store?
Not yet. Pathao’s own Nepal manual states the Daraz connector works with Daraz Bangladesh and that Nepal Daraz integration is on the roadmap. Shopify and WooCommerce are also listed as coming soon, with an explicit internal note not to promise them as available.
What does Pathao Parcel charge for delivery in Nepal?
Pathao does not publish a rate card for Nepal — you see your rates inside the merchant dashboard. The only public figure we could source is Rs 79 per parcel inside Kathmandu Valley from June 2024, which is likely out of date. Beware of “1% COD” and “50% return charge” figures online: those are Bangladesh rates.
Is Pathao Commerce worth it for a small seller?
If you ship fewer than about 50 orders a month, the subscription costs more per order than the delivery does. Use the free trial or the free-first-1,000 offer to test it, and revisit when volume grows past roughly 100 orders a month.
Do I need a registered business or PAN to sign up?
Pathao’s merchant terms require KYC and bank details for payouts. We could not find an explicit PAN or VAT requirement published for Pathao Commerce specifically — ask during onboarding.
Getting your online business set up properly
Software is the easy part. The businesses that do well online in Nepal are the ones that get the boring things right first: a domain you own, a way to take payment, clean product photos, and a way to be found on Google.
If you are setting up or cleaning up an online business — a website, a store, payments, or getting your existing pages to actually bring in orders — Digital Solution does this work from our office in Pokhara, and remotely across Nepal.
WhatsApp us on +977 9766597181 and tell us what you sell and where you sell it now. We will tell you honestly what is worth spending money on and what is not.
