PTE Fee in Nepal 2026: Price in NPR, Test Centres, Booking and Results

PTE fee in Nepal 2026: PTE Academic and PTE Core USD 248.60, about Rs 37,834 at the NRB rate, no refund within 7 days of the test

As of 24 October 2026 (7 Kartik 2083). Fees and centre count were read on Pearson’s official “Test centers and fees” page with Nepal selected; refund, ID, retake and rescore rules were read on Pearson’s policy pages the same day. The rupee figure uses Nepal Rastra Bank’s published rate for 20 October 2026, because nrb.org.np did not load for us on 24 October.

The PTE fee in Nepal is USD 248.60 for PTE Academic, as listed on pearsonpte.com on 24 October 2026. PTE Academic UKVI and PTE Core cost the same, USD 248.60. At NRB’s USD selling rate of Rs 152.19 on 20 October 2026, that is about Rs 37,834 (our calculation). You pay Pearson in US dollars by card, so your actual rupee cost depends on your bank’s card rate and charges.

This guide covers what each PTE test costs in Nepal, where the 11 centres are, how booking and payment work from Nepal, and what you lose if you cancel late.

You may have seen other figures online, such as USD 190, 200 or 245, on agent and blog sites. We have not used them. The only figure that matters is the one Pearson shows at checkout, so check it again on the day you book.

PTE fee in Nepal in rupees: how we converted it

Our calculation: USD 248.60 x Rs 152.19 = Rs 37,834.43, rounded to Rs 37,834. Rs 152.19 is the USD selling rate in NRB’s open market table for 20 October 2026. We used the selling rate because you are buying dollars when you pay.

Treat this as a floor, not the final bill. Your card issuer applies its own exchange rate on the day the charge settles, and many Nepali banks add a fee or markup on foreign currency card payments. If the rate moves by one rupee, the PTE Academic fee moves by about Rs 249.

Paying the PTE fee from Nepal

Pearson’s payment policy says it takes full payment in the specified currency, by credit or debit card or by Google Pay and Apple Pay. Its booking guide lists American Express, Discover, Mastercard and Visa. PayPal is not accepted.

For most students in Nepal this means a dollar-enabled card. In our reading, a debit card issued only for use inside Nepal will usually be declined on a foreign checkout. Our guide to dollar card fees and limits at Nepali banks explains which cards work and what paperwork banks ask for.

Two payment points from Pearson’s policy are worth knowing before you click pay:

  • If your payment is declined, the appointment or the test results are cancelled.
  • If your bank reverses the payment or a chargeback is raised, the appointment or results are cancelled.

So make sure your card has enough USD balance or limit before you start, and do not dispute the charge with your bank unless something has really gone wrong.

PTE test centres in Nepal

Pearson’s fee page says there are 11 test centres across Nepal, including Lalitpur, Kathmandu, Pokhara, Tilottama and Itahari. It does not list the street addresses on that page. To see exact centres and open dates, use the “Find test centers” link for your test. It opens Pearson VUE’s seat finder, where you type a location such as “Pokhara, Nepal”.

The seat finder showed us a note that PTE Academic “requires pre-authorisation” before an appointment can be scheduled. In practice that means you see dates first, then sign in to myPTE to actually book.

Our tips for choosing a centre:

  • Compare two or three nearby centres. Seat availability can differ by date and city.
  • Check the route and travel time for a morning slot, and read Pearson’s test centre rules on arrival before the day.
  • If you live in Rupandehi, look at Tilottama; in the east, Itahari; in Gandaki, Pokhara.

How to book PTE from Nepal: step by step

Pearson’s own booking guide sets out these steps. We have added notes for test takers in Nepal.

  1. Open pearsonpte.com, choose your test (Academic, UKVI, Core or Home) and click “Check availability & book”.
  2. Pick a centre, date and time. Pearson says the slot must be at least 24 hours away.
  3. Create a myPTE account. Enter your name exactly as on your passport. If your passport has a middle name, put first and middle names in the “Given names” field.
  4. Answer the booking questions.
  5. Pay by card or wallet. Enter any voucher or promo code at this step.
  6. Review the appointment and payment, then click “Submit Order”.
  7. Check your email and your myPTE dashboard for the confirmation.

Pearson says you can correct your account details up to 3 days before the test, not after that and not on test day. A name mismatch means you cannot sit the test and you will not get a refund.

ID you need on test day

For all PTE tests, Pearson asks for a valid passport. The ID must be the original physical document, not a photo or photocopy. It must not be expired, must have been issued no more than 10 years ago, must be in Roman characters, and must match the details you booked with.

If your passport is with an embassy for a visa, Pearson says you must get it back for test day. If it is being renewed, wait for the new one before booking. Pearson allows some alternative IDs for citizens testing in their own country, but only where its country exceptions list says so. We did not find a Nepal entry confirmed on that list, so plan on using your passport. Our guide to the NOC for study abroad covers the next paperwork step after your score.

Cancellation, rescheduling and refunds

This is where the PTE fee can be lost. Pearson’s rules, read on 24 October 2026:

When you actRescheduleCancel
More than 14 full calendar days before the testFree100% refund
14 to more than 7 days beforeNot allowed; you must cancel and rebook50% refund
7 days or fewer beforeNot allowedNo refund

At USD 248.60, a 50% refund returns USD 124.30, about Rs 18,917 at Rs 152.19 (our calculation). You can reschedule one appointment up to 6 times. The timing is counted from the exact test time, so a 2:00 PM test has its cut-offs at 2:00 PM on the relevant days.

If you are ill or face a family emergency, Pearson has a “Request Emergency Reschedule” form. Evidence is required and acceptance is at Pearson’s discretion. The request must reach Pearson no later than 72 hours after your appointment.

PTE results, retakes and rescoring

Pearson says it sends the score report typically within 48 hours, and that most people get results within two business days, though some take up to five business days. You get an email, and the score appears in your myPTE account. You can send it to as many institutions as you like at no charge.

Retake rules from Pearson’s policy:

  • You can book the next test only after you receive scores from the last one.
  • Tests can be booked up to 6 months ahead.
  • The limit is 12 tests in a 12-month window.

If you think the score is wrong, a human rescore costs USD 160 (about Rs 24,350, our calculation). Pearson says most scores stay the same, and a changed score replaces the old one even if it goes down. A technical review of your speaking audio costs USD 50 (about Rs 7,610, our calculation). Both are requested by phone through Pearson’s customer support.

A cost checklist before you book

  • The test fee shown at checkout, in USD.
  • Your bank’s card exchange rate and foreign transaction fee.
  • Travel to the centre, and a night’s stay if you come from another district.
  • Practice material, if you buy any. Pearson sells scored practice tests separately.
  • A buffer for a retake if your target score is close to your current level.
