ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini are the three AI assistants most Nepali students, professionals and business owners ask about. All three can write, explain, summarise and plan. The differences are in their free plans, prices, language support, age rules, privacy settings and the other apps they work with.
This guide compares the facts we could confirm on the official pages, then gives you a simple test to choose for yourself.
Quick answer: All three have free plans and list Nepal as a supported country. Gemini is the only one of the three that names Nepali on its official supported language list, and it fits naturally if you already use Gmail and Google Drive. ChatGPT offers a broad set of everyday features on its free plan and a low-cost Go plan at $8 a month; Google’s AI Plus, at $4.99 a month, was the cheapest entry plan of the three. Claude is strong for long documents and careful rewriting, but its consumer terms require users to be 18 or older. The right choice depends on your tasks, so test all three on the same real task.

What each one does well
ChatGPT
- A broad set of features on the free plan, including limited file uploads, image creation, voice chats and deep research, as listed on OpenAI’s pricing page.
- A “Study mode” is listed among its features, which is useful for learners.
- Paid Plus adds projects, scheduled tasks and custom GPTs.
- The Go plan at $8 a month is a lower-cost step up; OpenAI notes this plan may include ads.
Good for: everyday all-round use, students, people who want one tool for many small jobs.
Claude
- The free plan includes web search, file creation, memory across conversations and connecting apps, according to Anthropic’s pricing page.
- Anthropic’s multilingual documentation says Claude is capable in many languages beyond those it benchmarks, and tells users to test their own languages.
- Pro adds more usage, Projects and Claude in Chrome and Microsoft 365.
- Consumer chats are used to train models only if you turn that on, and Incognito chats are never used for this.
Good for: long reports, policies, careful editing of English text, and adults who want clear control over training settings.
Gemini
- Works with your existing Google account. The free tier includes 15 GB of storage across Gmail, Drive and Photos, as listed on Google’s subscriptions page.
- Nepali appears on Google’s list of supported languages for the Gemini web app.
- Usage limits on the Gemini app refresh every 5 hours until you reach a weekly limit, according to Google’s help page.
- Google also offers Gemini Notebook (the tool previously called NotebookLM) for working with your own documents.
Good for: Gmail and Google Drive users, Nepali-language tasks, students who already use Google Classroom or Docs.
Test them yourself in 20 minutes
The best way to choose is to give all three the same prompts and compare. Use these three tests:
Test 1: Nepali writing “Write a short notice in simple Nepali (Devanagari) for a ward office telling residents that the drinking water supply will be off on Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm for pipe repair. Keep it under 80 words.”
Check spelling, grammar and whether it sounds natural.
Test 2: Explaining a topic “Explain the difference between simple interest and compound interest for a Grade 10 student in Nepal, using an example of Rs 10,000 saved in a bank for 3 years. Show the calculation.”
Check whether the maths is correct and whether the explanation is clear.
Test 3: Working with your own text Paste a long, non-private document such as a public notice or an article and ask: “Summarise this in 5 points and list any dates or amounts mentioned.”
Check whether it missed or invented any dates or amounts.
Score each tool from 1 to 5 on accuracy, clarity and Nepali quality. Choose the one that wins on the tasks you do most often. Many people end up using two.

You do not have to pay to get value from any of these tools. If you decide to upgrade, OpenAI’s pricing page says paid ChatGPT plans can be bought with any major credit card. Mistakes to avoid when comparing
- Judging from one answer. Each tool varies between tries. Test with three or more real tasks.
- Trusting any of them on current Nepali facts. None of them should be your source for fees, exam dates or legal rules. Check official sites. Our guide on fact-checking AI answers shows how.
- Paying for all three. One paid plan, if any, is enough for most people.
- Ignoring age rules. Students under 18 should not sign up for Claude, and under-18s need parental permission for ChatGPT.
Privacy: what to check in each
- ChatGPT: OpenAI’s pricing page says Free plan content is used to train its models, with an opt-out available. Find the data controls in your settings.
- Claude: Anthropic says it uses consumer chats for model improvement only if you allow it, plus chats flagged for safety review. Incognito chats are not used.
- Gemini: Google says some chats are reviewed by human reviewers, reviewed chats may be kept for up to three years, and you can turn off Keep Activity or use temporary chats to stop future chats being reviewed for improving its services.
